Melawai, Jakarta.

It drizzled that morning and I wondered whether we should go ahead with our Indonesian coffee hunting.

Went all the way from Central Jakarta to Blok M (thank God for MRT) to try this place, that apparently even Pak Jokowi likes their coffee.

He’s not wrong.

My sister had long black, and I had kopi Garut aeropressed. The waffle she had was probably the best waffle we’ve ever had. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, served with delicious butter and maple syrup, sprinkled with icing sugar. I’m drooling thinking about it. I had a more local option, which is fried cassava (singkong goreng) with “barbeque flavour” sprinkles which tasted like cheese and mihchin. It was crispy enough but would have been better with less sprinkles.

The ambience was cool, the cafe is aesthetically plesing. No wonder the place gets crowded by afternoon. It was not the case when we were there, maybe because it rained, or maybe 11am is indeed a little early for them on weekends.

Recommending this for those going to Jakarta for whatever business. It is very near Blok M MRT station, and it is right opposite Blok M mall itself.
